Court documents reveal value of Brooks Houck's company properties in Bardstown

A majority of the 145-page discovery contains information regarding the value of properties owned by Houck's three companies.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — The Brooks Houck murder case file continues to grow. More than 100 new documents were filed in Nelson County Circuit Court on Wednesday.

Houck is currently being held on a $10 million bond at Hardin County Detention Center. He is charged with the murder of his former girlfriend Crystal Rogers.

His attorney's request for a lower bond was denied on Oct. 9 after a Nelson County Judge ruled to keep the multi-million dollar bond in place, citing multiple reasons including concerns for the safety of witnesses.

Documents known as "discovery" are now being entered into the growing 145-page case file.

That file includes property records from the Kentucky Secretary of State and business records. The commonwealth alleges Houck is a multi-millionaire.

State records indicate Houck owns three businesses and 83 properties in Nelson County, 66 of those are worth roughly $8.5 million alone, the judge said in his motion to deny the bond reduction.

The property values ranged as low as $7,500 to upwards of $272,000. One property was assessed at more than $918,000.

Notably-- two items are still sealed from the public-- that's the video recording and transcript of a conversation between Houck and his sister.

The special prosecutors says that recording proves the Houck family illegally recorded grand jury proceedings.

Houck is expected back in court on Feb. 8, 2024.
