LMPD: Bicyclist dies after hit-and-run on I-265; driver arrested

Police said the victim was hit and killed while riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the interstate.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville driver is in custody after a bicyclist was hit and killed on the Gene Snyder.

Felicia Denney, 25, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid and reckless driving.

According to Metro Police, Seventh Division officers responded to the area of I-265 and I-65 near Okolona around 4:30 p.m. on Monday after reports of a collision between a bicyclist and a car.

Police said in their preliminary investigation a man was riding a bike on the shoulder of I-265 Northbound when he was hit by Denney, causing him to be ejected from it.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Denney didn't stop to help the victim and continued driving northbound on I-265 going into the median recklessly passing other motorist, which was caught on video by witnesses, according to her arrest citation.

LMPD said she eventually got back onto I-265 and only stopped when other witnesses forced her to about a mile east of the collision.

The department's Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
