For three decades, the program, Freedom House, has helped pregnant and parenting women overcome substance use disorders and deliver healthy babies.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Volunteers of America (VOA) celebrated the 30th anniversary of their nationally recognized recovery program, Freedom House, on Thursday.

Around 1,000 guests attended the annual Power of 1 Breakfast, which is one of the largest nonprofit events in Louisville.

According to a news release, for about 30 years, the program has helped pregnant and parenting women overcome substance use disorders and deliver healthy babies.

"This is a program, for 30 years, that has served women who are pregnant or parenting and have a substance use disorder; they get to bring all their kids into our program with them, we take care of the entire family," VOA President and CEP Jennifer Hancock said. "This is an innovative and high impact program and today we get to celebrate it with 1000 of our closest supporters."

Hancock said they always rely on the community's generosity.

"They always show up for us and to see this turnout today is just really so gratifying we are grateful for this generous communities support we absolutely cant do everything that we do for the families we serve without the support of the public," Hancock said.

During the breakfast, guests heard from a Freedom House graduate, someone who was once served by the VOA and now works for the organization.

The VOA plans to break ground on new Freedom House facilities in Stanford, Owensboro and northern Kentucky according to the release.

Hancock also announced a new VOA campaign aimed at raising $25 million to help support the organization's expansion in the Commonwealth.
