Norton Healthcare to open $17 million expansion in southern Indiana

The medical center is located in east Jeffersonville and will now have additional emergency and diagnostic services.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Norton Healthcare is set to open a new upgraded medical center in southern Indiana next month.

Additional emergency and diagnostic services will be available at the Norton Medical Center on March 4. The facility is located in the Jeffersonville Commons shopping center on Mercy Way.

The center currently houses a primary care office which has occupational medicine services for employers, officials said.

Norton Healthcare has invested $17 million in the east Jeffersonville expansion.

"The ability to access care close to home is especially important when emergency services are needed," Russell Cox, president and CEO of Norton Healthcare, said.

Officials said the emergency department will include eight exam rooms -- with one capable of converting into a trauma bay -- a lab and access to adjoining diagnostic imaging. The ER will be open 24/7 with no appointments needed.

The diagnostics center will include X-ray, CT, ultrasound, screening 3D mammography and MRI capabilities. Diagnostics will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Norton said patients can schedule an outpatient diagnostic imaging appointment by calling 812-283-2405.

An outpatient behavioral health office is also planned to open at the medical center which will include individual and group therapy services.
