Norton Healthcare transportation bus catches fire in parking lot; no one injured

The shuttle company is currently assessing cars parked nearby for damage and reviewing the incident.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — No one was injured after a Norton Healthcare transportation bus caught fire on Wednesday afternoon.

Norton Healthcare sent WHAS11 a statement saying they are currently using Miller Transportation for shuttle services for their employees who are parking remotely during a period of parking garage construction on the Norton Audubon Hospital campus.

Around 11:30 a.m., while the shuttle driver was waiting for employees at a parking location off of Eastern Parkway, officials said the shuttle driver "smelled smoke and got off the bus."

Shortly after, the bus caught fire.

"The driver is unharmed and no Norton Healthcare employees were injured. For this we are so thankful," a spokesperson for Norton Healthcare said.

The shuttle company is currently assessing cars parked nearby for damage and reviewing the incident.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
