What to expect

Our severe weather risk Sunday night remains enhanced, a level three out of five, for the entire WHAS11 viewing area.

That said, keep an eye to the sky no matter where you live and have a way to get alerts to your phone.

This night round of storms is capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, and possibly tornadoes.

Flash flooding will be a threat as well. However, the amount of clearing we see after the first round of storms will be important. The timing will be between 8 p.m. and midnight.

Severe weather at night can be dangerous because it's dark and you're likely asleep. Again, it's important have a way to receive weather alerts so you can wake up overnight.

As for rainfall, we expect these storms to be prolific rainmakers, which is where our concern for localized areas of flooding comes in. Rain totals of 1-3 inches will be possible, with locally higher amounts likely given how heavy rain is expected to be at times.
