LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Four people sustained minor injuries in a car crash that involved police chasing a stolen vehicle. One of the injured people was not involved in the chase and sent to University Hospital.

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said around 8:45 p.m. LMPD officers tried to initiate a traffic stop with the confirmed stolen vehicle at 36th Street and Parker Avenue. The driver and other people inside the vehicle allegedly drove off while shooting at the officers.

LMPD Maj. Brian Kuriger said no officers discharged their firearms. "The vehicle decided to go to several locations within Louisville Metro, the Churchill Downs area, and Iroquois Park area, and then returning back down here to 38th and River Park," he said.

38th and River Park is where the stolen vehicle crashed into another vehicle Mitchell said.

Mitchell then said after the driver crashed into the other vehicle, officers were able to take four people into custody. Three of them sustained minor injuries and were treated by Louisville Metro Emergency Metro Services.

Charges are pending said Mitchell.
