LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A person is dead after a crash on Outer Loop Wednesday afternoon.

A Louisville Metro Police spokesperson said they received a call about a vehicle collision at Outer Loop and Briarcliff Road around 5:30 p.m.

That's near the Texas Roadhouse and Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen right off Interstate 65.

Police said a vehicle was going west on Outer Loop when it crossed over into the eastbound lanes. The reason why is unclear.

That vehicle hit a mini-van head on according to police. The driver of the vehicle that crossed lanes died at the scene, and the driver of the mini-van was sent to UofL Hospital.

Authorities added the driver of the mini-van is expected to survive.
