Shay McAlister’s ‘Bardstown’ podcast returns for new season; New episodes through April

New episodes of the five-part season will be released every Tuesday.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — WHAS11 Investigative Reporter Shay McAlister is back with another season of the 'Bardstown' podcast. The new season will discuss major developments in the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, one of the most high-profile unsolved cases in Kentucky.

'Back To Bardstown' will be available on the WHAS11 YouTube channel and streaming on WHAS11+, Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Episode one will be released on March 26. New episodes will come out every Tuesday, but if you can't wait until then, episodes will release early -- every Monday -- on the WHAS11 YouTube.

In 2019, Bardstown became an instant hit after the ten-episode series highlighted five unsolved murder cases in Nelson County. Within days of its release, the podcast shot up on the iTunes Top Charts – hitting number one in the true crime category.

Season One brought national attention to the unsolved murders in Bardstown including the ambush-style murder of police officer Jason Ellis, the brutal murders of Kathy and Samantha Netherland, the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, and the murder of her father, Tommy Ballard.

Rogers, a mother of five, mysteriously disappeared over the Fourth of July weekend in 2015. Her car was discovered days later with her keys, phone and purse inside.

That same month, McAlister moved to Kentucky to begin her career in journalism. She’s been following the case closely ever since, making connections with family members and investigators over the past eight years to discover what really happened to Crystal Rogers.

Shocking arrests and major bombshells last year have revealed new details about the investigation and the possible link between other unsolved murders in Nelson County.

“I, like most people in this community, have been waiting for the day puzzle pieces started falling into place and now, that day seems closer than ever before,” McAlister said.

The new season will contain five new episodes, but the investigation is constantly unfolding with several court dates scheduled leading up to next year’s trial.

Additional episodes may be released in the future.
