Transformer failure causes power outages in Buckner, officials say

Approximately 1,400 residents were without power Monday morning.

Duke Energy customers in Indiana could soon see increases on their electric bills.

BUCKNER, Ky. — Approximately 1,400 people were in the dark in Buckner, Ky. Monday morning after a major power outage, according to LG&E's power outage map. The outage began at about 7 a.m.

According to Oldham County Office of Emergency Management, the outage was caused by a transformer failure.

Due to a transformer failure, approximately 1,400 residents in the Buckner area are without power. LG&E is on the scene and will restore power as soon as possible.

LG&E crews restored power to a majority of residents by 11:20 a.m.
