MEADE COUNTY, Ky. — A Meade County man was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting a woman Thursday morning.

Around 7 a.m., Meade County dispatch received a call about a person who had been shot in the 7100 block of Battletown Road in Battletown.

The Meade County Sheriff’s Department said the caller told dispatch, "Dad's gun went off, mother has been shot."

When authorities arrived on scene they said they found the victim, Crystal Fetch, in the master bedroom of the home, laying on the bed, with a single gunshot wound to her left eye.

Documents say that Derick Ford, 37, got into a "verbal altercation" with Fetch. During the argument, he allegedly shot and killed Fetch with an AR-15 rifle.

Ford was charged with murder, and is currently booked at the Meade County Detention Center.

His bond was set at $250,000 cash.
