Atherton High School librarians say seeing Jack Harlow on VMA's stage was 'unreal'

"He was gonna do it, he was confident and humble; we have his first CDs he ever made and we've always believed in him, and loved him like our child."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — When Jack Harlow's two high school librarians saw him hosting the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night, they said it felt "unreal."

"He is a gentle, sweet, kind person and that's stuck with him even though he's gotten so famous and he still responds to messages from us and he just remained humble," said one of Atherton High School's librarians, Heather Waters.

Waters and fellow librarian, Cindy Phelps, affectionately call themselves Harlow's "school moms."

However, they do admit to badgering him a bit about college in his senior year, even though he was confident he would make it as a musician.

"He was gonna do it, he was confident and humble; we have his first CDs he ever made and we've always believed in him, and loved him like our child," Phelps said. "And we are just so glad we got to know him."

They said they are so proud of Harlow and believe his next stop should be the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
