NWS: 3 tornadoes confirmed after latest storm system in Kentucky

One tornado had maximum winds of 110 miles per hour, officials said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three tornadoes have been confirmed in Kentucky by the National Weather Service of Louisville after severe weather came through the state Thursday morning.

The first EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Mercer County at 2:20 p.m. The winds were reported up to 100 miles per hour. 

Roughly 5,000 households and businesses were without power in Mercer as a result of the damage. The Mercer County Emergency Manager confirmed the YMCA in Harrodsburg was also damaged.

Another EF-1 tornado was confirmed in Boyle County near Danville at 3:13 p.m.; the wind gusts reached speeds of at least 90 miles per hour.

The latest EF-1 tornado confirmed was in Henry County at 5:03 p.m. The tornado had maximum winds of 110 miles per hour.
