'Spring is officially here': Louisville airport anticipates record travel numbers

Airport officials say more than 36,500 departing seats are scheduled from Thursday-Sunday this week.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools, as well as many other schools districts in the Louisville area, will be on spring break next week. If you're planning on traveling by plane, the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport recommends preparing for crowds.

According to a Louisville airport news release, more than 36,500 departing seats are scheduled from Thursday-Sunday of this week. That's an increase of 13% from this time last year.

Louisville airport added three new routes to Florida this spring break season. Officials say the sunshine state is by far the most popular spring break destination for the Louisville area.

To make your trip easier, Louisville airport officials recommend getting to the airport 2-2.5 hours earlier than your scheduled flight and to check-in to your flight from home if possible.
