Weather forecast for the Kentucky Derby, Oaks and Thurby

Most of the time it will be sunny and warm for Derby week; however, we are expecting some rain.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

THURBY/THURSDAY

A great day to head out to the track! We have mostly sunny skies with warm temperatures. Make sure to stay hydrated because the heat will be the only concern. We are expecting highs in the upper 80s. You don't need to worry about bringing a poncho with you.

OAKS/FRIDAY

Pack that poncho along with your fascinator. We are tracking a low-pressure system that is going to move over Kentucky into the afternoon. This is going to bring a few waves of rain across our area.

Rain is expected to hit our area in the late afternoon and evening. If you plan on being at the track earlier in the day, that's your best window to stay dry. Thankfully, we are not expecting severe weather, but we could hear a few rumbles of thunder. Temperatures will be staying in the 70s due to the cloud coverage and rain.

KENTUCKY DERBY/SATURDAY

Some rain could linger into the morning of the Derby. Partly sunny skies by the afternoon will bring our temperatures into the low 80s. Another wave of light showers is possible early evening, though not likely. To stay on the safe side, you may want to pack a poncho.
