Special edition bourbon helps NBA2LOU efforts

Officials believe that bringing an NBA team to the Bluegrass could heavily stimulate the economy not just for the city it calls home, but statewide.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Bourbon and basketball are staples in the Bluegrass.

At an event at Springhurst, the Town Center Liquor Barn managed to combine the state’s passions.

Dan Issel, Mike Pratt and Louie Dampier were on hand as the store sold 200 bottles of special edition NBA2LOU Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon and people lined up for the chance to own a bottle, meet the legends and get autographs.

The bottles were sold for $149 as a fundraiser in support of the NBA2LOU efforts and Issel said just like when they were playing basketball, the organization is always ready to hear Louisville’s name called.

“We'll be ready. The bad thing is we are at the complete discretion of what the NBA decides to do, so our task has always been if and when the NBA expands to have our application ready and that is what we are working toward," he said.
