JACKSON COUNTY, Indiana — Indiana State Police (ISP) are investigating after a man died following a serious motorcycle crash in rural Jackson County on Monday.

The victim was identified as 40-year-old Timothy Kerkhof, of Seymour, Indiana.

According to ISP Trooper Seth Davidson, Kerkhof was driving south on County Road 700 East, just north of Seymour, on his silver 2004 chopper motorcycle.

Davidson's initial investigation found Kerkhof lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to navigate a sharp curve while turning onto County Road 725 North around 3:45 p.m.

Police said Kerkhof was thrown off the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries in the crash.

The Jackson County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene.

An ISP Crash Reconstructionist was called to assist with the investigation, which remains ongoing at this time.
