Norton says 2.5 million 'potentially impacted individuals' affected by ransomware attack

If you were impacted following the cyber attack on the healthcare company, you may be receiving a letter soon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Days after Norton Healthcare finally revealed they were affected by a ransomware attack in May, the company said they are taking steps to help customers affected.

On Tuesday, Norton confirmed they would be sending out letters to “potentially impacted individuals” and they would be offered two years of complimentary credit monitoring. The healthcare giant believes about 2.5 million customers, who they had addresses for, would be affected.

Norton said a multi-month investigation revealed there was unauthorized access to certain network storage devices between May 7 and May 9, 2023.

The company said it is continuing to work with the authorities regarding the matter.

Since Dec. 8, Norton has opened a call center for those who have questions and concerns about the ransomware attack.

That number is (866) 983-5764 and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
