LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Kentucky University cut ties with Papa John's pizza after its founder, John Schnatter, admitted to using a racial slur during a conference call.

Northern Kentucky University's food services partner is removing the restaurant from its student union and replacing it with another pizza restaurant.

In a statement, NKU's president said the university "has a longstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion that is embedded in all facets of our campus."

NKU joins other universities that have cut ties with the company and Schnatter.

UofL has removed "Papa John's" from the name of its football stadium and its Center for Free Enterprise.
