MELANnaire Marketplace to hold first night pop-up market as Derby nears

The “party-infused” Derby Night Market shopping experience will showcase more than 30 Black-owned vendors.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Still trying to decide on what to wear for Derby?

The MELANnaire Marketplace is hosting a first-ever night event with its Derby Shopping Festival at Fourth Street Live on April 26.

The “party-infused” shopping experience will showcase more than 30 Black-owned vendors.

“Although the iconic race is considered the ‘greatest two minutes in sports’, the hats, fascinators, suits, dresses and shoes take center stage,” Nachand Hyde-Trabue said. “Louisville comes alive around the Derby, and we want to add to that excitement with local Black entrepreneurs who are eager to help visitors look Derby fly and have fun doing so.”

There will also be plenty of art, food and entertainment during the event.

MELANnaire Marketplace has been holding pop-up mall events for the last three years.

The 150th Derby Night Market will take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
