Kentucky's governor wants 'economic win streak' to continue

"Economic development is a team sport," Gov. Andy Beshear said during GLI's Capitol Connection event.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear was in Louisville on Monday and shared his top priorities for his second term as governor at Greater Louisville Inc.'s (GLI) Capitol Connection event.

GLI said the Capitol Connection events are all about connecting businesses to elected leaders.

During the event, Beshear said he wants to continue what he calls "Kentucky's economic win streak."

"Economic development is a team sport," he said. "It takes the state, it takes the city, it takes GLI, it takes each and everyone of you that helps in some way. We get way too caught up on credit when every economic development announcement is the chance for a family to change the course of their lives and make intragenerational change."

The governor went on to advocate for providing a raise for Kentucky's public school teachers, saying Kentucky cannot stay on its winning streak if its teachers are not taken care of.
