HARRISON COUNTY, Indiana — A woman is dead and another driver is injured after a terrible crash in southern Indiana on Tuesday, according to a Harrison County Sheriff's Department news release.

At about 11 a.m., Harrison County deputies responded to a fatal car accident involving three vehicles; a small black Honda SUV, a white Chevrolet truck and a green Toyota truck.

The collision occurred on Highway 135 and Lopp Circle Road in Mauckport, Harrison County, Ind.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet truck told police they were traveling southbound on Highway 135 when they witnessed the small Honda SUV which was traveling northbound drift into the southbound lane against traffic.

The driver of the Chevrolet said he had to drive on the shoulder and into the southbound lane guardrail to avoid a head-on collision with the Honda SUV. After narrowly avoiding an accident; however, the driver of the Chevrolet said the Honda SUV collided with the green Toyota truck traveling behind him.

The driver of the green Toyota told police he noticed the Chevrolet driving into the shoulder as he was following behind him. As the Chevrolet veered into the guardrail, the driver of the Toyota said he could then see the black Honda SUV coming right for him.

The driver of the green Toyota truck said he hit his brakes and tried to move over but the Honda SUV was already too close and the Honda hit him head-on.

The driver of the Honda SUV, later identified as 65-year-old Pamela Trostle, died at the scene. The driver of the green Toyota was transported to the hospital and treated for leg and back pain. No one else was reported injured.

"We ask that you keep Ms. Trostle’s family in your prayers during their time of mourning," the Harrison County Sheriff's Department said.
