Southern Indiana jail commander arrested after nearly crashing into deputy head-on

BUTLERVILLE, Ind. — A southern Indiana jail commander was arrested after nearly crashing into a deputy head-on. 

According to a Facebook post from the Jennings County Sheriff's Office, a deputy was patrolling on Highway 50 East in Butlerville when a passenger van crossed the centerline and nearly hit his patrol vehicle head-on.

The deputy stopped the van and inside was Natasha Goins, the Jennings County Jail Commander. 

The deputy said he saw "signs of alcohol impairment" and notified Indiana State Police (ISP). ISP ended up taking over the investigation.

After the investigation, Goins was arrested and booked into the Ripley County Jail.

Police said she has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending termination upon release from jail.
