New Albany Police sergeant charged with felony misconduct, stalking

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A New Albany Police sergeant was arrested on felony charges Wednesday. 

The New Albany Police Department confirmed the arrested of Sgt. Chad Armenta. 

Armenta worked for the New Albany Police Department for 18 years and is currently assigned to the department’s Uniform Division, according to a news release. 

Based on a "thorough investigation" conducted by the Indiana State Police (ISP), a warrant for Armenta was issued and he was arrested.

After his arrest, police said Armenta was remanded to the custody of the Floyd County Jail.

Authorities said he is on paid administrative leave pending an internal review and the outcome of the criminal case. 

Armenta was charged with two counts of level 6 felony official misconduct, level 6 felony stalking, criminal trespassing, interference in reporting a crime and harassment.
