LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Images have surfaced of what could possibly be a waterway contamination after 9,000 barrels of aging bourbon crashed to the ground in a Nelson County following a warehouse collapse.
The incident happened Friday at the Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown.
Dead fish and a turtle were floating in the Beech Fork River just south of the distillery, captured by a WHAS11 viewer.
WHAS11 News spoke to officials who say they’ve been onsite testing waters Saturday to determine the damage.

At press time, they could not say for sure if the distillery collapse is the cause but they believe it’s possible.
According to a Kentucky Fish and Wildlife official, the bourbon may have seeped into Withrow Creek and down into Beech Fork River.
The span of the contamination is unclear but officials believe it could be a half-mile.
