Brooks Houck, main suspect in Crystal Rogers case, moved to Oldham County jail

Houck has been charged with murder in the 2015 disappearance of his former girlfriend, Crystal Rogers.

BARDSTOWN, Ky. — The main suspect in the Crystal Rogers' investigation has been transferred to another jail in Kentucky.

Rogers, a Bardstown mother of five, went missing over the Fourth of July weekend in 2015. She has been presumed dead for several years.

Brooks Houck, her former boyfriend, was arrested in September and charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence in connection to Rogers' disappearance.

Jail records show Houck was transferred from the Hardin County Detention Center to the Oldham County Detention Center in La Grange around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

No new charges were added and he remains in custody with a $10 million bond.

At this time, it's unclear why Houck was moved to the jail in Oldham County.

Last month, Kentucky's Supreme Court denied Houck's request to dismiss Nelson County Circuit Court Judge Charles Simms III from his case. A Kentucky Appeals Court also upheld Simms' ruling that the $10 million bond is "reasonable" given the value of his company's rental properties across Bardstown.

Two other men have been charged in connection to Rogers' case, Steven and Joseph Lawson. Both men are charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection to an incident over the Fourth of July weekend in 2015 -- the same time Rogers' disappeared.

Joseph Lawson remains in custody at the Grayson County Detention Center while his father, Steven, is still being held in the Harrison County Jail in Indiana.

Earlier this month, the FBI and Kentucky State Police conducted a days-long search of a property in Nelson County. The search was tied to at least one of the three unsolved homicide cases in Bardstown.
