LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Due to poor secondary road conditions, all Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) will use a non-traditional instruction (NTI) day on Friday.

This is similar at-home instruction to what JCPS and other school districts utilized during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a letter sent to parents earlier this week, JCPS said it isn't planning to have delays or early dismissals except in rare occasions.

This is the third NTI day JCPS has used so far this year. JCPS has seven more to use until the end of the year, officials say.

According to a news release, all school and extracurricular activities will also be canceled on Friday.

JCPS said short-term NTI is self-paced and students won't receive live, online instruction from their teachers.

Houseless students needing services including food, clothing and TARC tickets, can contact homelessmlbx@jefferson.kyschools.us.

The Archdiocese of Louisville's Catholic schools as well as nearby Oldham County schools are closed Friday. For a full list of school closures, click here.
