Hearing officer named for JCPS appeals

The details about the hearing, besides who will be the officer, have not been set.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The person who will hear the case when Jefferson County Public Schools appeals a recommended state takeover has been named.

Elizabeth Heilman will be the hearing officer on the matter and the full state board will vote.

Interim Education Commissioner Wayne Lewis recommended a state takeover of JCPS after reviewing an audit. JCPS is appealing the recommendation.

Heilman works with the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet and will set the date and location for the hearing.

So far those details have not been finalized.
