LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville police are searching for the driver who hit a pedestrian with their vehicle Thursday morning and fled the scene. The man who was hit by the vehicle died.

At about 5 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Cane Run Road at Lees Lane, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a man was crossing Cane Run Road west to east when he was struck by an SUV that was traveling northbound on Cane Run Road. The driver of the SUV fled the scene.

A second driver going northbound on Cane Run Road reportedly did not see the victim in the roadway and struck the victim. That vehicle and driver remained on scene.

Police say a witness at the scene said the pedestrian was in the crosswalk at Cane Run Road and Lees Lane; however, the pedestrian was crossing against the traffic light.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
