Norton Children's collecting Valentine's Day cards, stuffed animals; How to submit one

Last year, Norton Children's received more than 10,000 valentines and more than 1,700 stuffed animals.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Looking to help bring a smile to children staying in some Louisville hospitals? Norton Children's is once again collecting Valentine's Day cards and stuffed animals to hand out to patients.

Anyone in the community can submit a valentines starting Jan. 26 through Feb. 9. 

There are several different cards with heartfelt messages on the front and include activities on the back for children to enjoy. In addition to cards, you can also purchase a stuffed animal through the "SendAFriend" option.

In honor of American Heart Month, officials said 10% of purchases will be donated to the Norton Children's Hospital Foundation to support patients and staff at Norton Children's Heart Institute. 

On Feb. 14, the cards and stuffed animals will be hand-delivered to random children at Norton Children's Hospital, Norton Women's and Children's Hospital, Norton Children's Medical Center and Novak Center for Children's Health. 

Officials said Norton Children's received 10,600 valentines and more than 1,700 stuffed animals last year.

The hospital system serves more than 215,000 patients from across Kentucky on average a year, according to officials.
