LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One Louisville man won thousands of dollars on a single scratch-off ticket while one his way home from work last week.

Matthew Jackson said he usually buys a Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket about once a week, typically on Fridays.

Jackson said he's won a few times but has never hit the big prize, until his lucky day arrived last week.

“Usually on a Thursday or Friday I’ll get off work and go to the corner store and buy a ticket,” he said. “(I’ve) been doing it that way for a while.”

One his way home from work he visited Klondike Market & Deli and bought a $30 Mega Multiplier! ticket.

It wasn’t until he got home that realized he had won big.

“I went home to scratch it off and I wasn’t sure at first, “Jackson told lottery officials. “I was like hold on let me look at this again…I called my friend at work who plays too, and he was like ‘yeah, it’s probably a winner, you’ve got to go downtown.’”

Jackson waited over the weekend, then claimed his prize at Kentucky Lottery headquarters on Monday.

“Even on like Saturday I was thinking ‘this can’t be right,’” he said.

Jackson said he plans on paying a few bills and going on a nice vacation with his winnings.

Klondike Market & Deli will receive $500 for selling the winning ticket.
