Newborn gets surprise cookie couture from Girl Scout Troop

The Girl Scouts dressed the newborn baby up at the hospital with a Girl Scout vest and cookie onesie.

SAN ANTONIO — A brand new baby at a local San Antonio hospital was surprised with some awesome "cookie couture" by a local Girl Scout Troop.

Several young ladies from Troop 2201 on the south side of San Antonio decided to get creative with their community service.

The Girl Scout Troop visited tiny patients and their caregivers at their neighborhood hospital Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in the Brooks City Base area.

Baptist Health System said, "the girls in the Troop, who range in age from 4 to 18, surprised a lucky newborn girl named Rylee Avila with some “cookie couture:” a beautiful official Girl Scout vest and a cookie-clad onesie."

The Troop leader, Natasha Stevens, said her Girl Scouts wanted to do something special for baby Rylee Avila, who was the fourth baby born at Mission Trail Baptist to be born on Leap Day this year.

Of course the girls aslo brought some boxes of delicious Girl Scout cookies for the nurses and staff who helped deliver and care for baby Avila.

“The girls were so excited to do something fun for this newborn girl who came into the world this special Leap Year,” Stevens said. “They also got the chance to show their appreciation for all the care that goes into bringing a new little one into the world on the south side of San Antonio where our Troop serves.”

Mission Trail Baptist Hospital and baby Rylee’s parents thanked the Girl Scouts for their generosity and time in making this Leap Year birthday extra special for the Leap Day baby.

The Girl Scouts say the hope to continue this tradition every four years, every Leap Year at the hospital.
