One-woman show spins tragedy into comedy

Mandee McKelvey: Herself debuts this weekend at The Bard's Town in Louisville, KY.

Louisville-based comedian Mandee McKelvey is a regular at The Bard’s Town, performing a wide-variety of roles as a part of the Character Assassination shows, which stage fictional comedy roasts of pop-culture icons. Mandee grew up in rural South Carolina and became a widow in her 20s, but wait, “it gets funnier” she says. Now she’s created a new, one-woman show playing herself and sharing four true stories where she found humor was the best way to deal with tragedy. Mandee McKelvey: Herself debuts this weekend, and she stopped by GDL to talk about how she is turning tragedy into comedy. You can watch Mandee McKelvey: Herself this Friday, July 20 & Saturday, July 21, 2018 at The Bard’s Town, located at 1801 Bardstown Road in Louisville, KY. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at http://thebardstown.com/herself.
