Pete Davidson 'Is in a Good Place' While Focusing on His Stand-Up and Film Career, Source Says

Pete Davidson is in a positive mental space and is taking charge of his professional trajectory.

A source tells ET, "Pete is in a good mental place and taking control of things. He's been doing great on his film with Eddie Murphy and has been incredibly professional. He wants to focus on stand-up and film now."

Davidson's journey in the entertainment industry has seen its fair share of twists and turns, with the recent news of his decision to end his comedy series, Bupkis, drawing attention.

The announcement comes nearly a year after Peacock renewed the show for a second season. In a statement addressing his decision to Deadline, Davidson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share his story through Bupkis. Still, he indicated a readiness for the next phase of his career.

"I've always seen Bupkis as a window into my life, since it is so personal and about my struggles and family," Davidson shared. "After nearly a decade of my personal life being in the media, I wanted a chance to tell my story my way."

The semi-autobiographical series, which debuted last May to considerable anticipation, offered viewers a glimpse into Davidson's world, featuring a star-studded cast and intimate narratives. Despite its short-lived run, Davidson remained proud of the project, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that brought it to life.

Davidson served as a writer and an executive producer of the series. At the New York City premiere of Bupkis, Davidson gushed over his then-girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, while speaking to ET on the red carpet at the Apollo Theater.

"I mean, she's the best. She's the best actress," Davidson said. "She's gonna crush. She's got a lot of cool stuff going so... I had a blast."

Davidson and Wonders would go on to break up in August after nine months of dating. At the time, a source told ET that the SNL alum was working to "get back on track" and "focus on himself."
