Flash Flood Warnings issued for several Kentucky, Indiana counties

The National Weather Service has issued several warnings as thunderstorms bring heavy rain through Kentuckiana Friday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several counties in Kentucky and Southern Indiana are under Flash Flood Warnings Friday morning as storms move through the area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued warnings for parts of the following counties in Kentucky:

  • Meade
  • Hardin
  • Bullitt
  • Jefferson

Portions of these Indiana counties are also under a Flash Flood Warning:

  • Harrison
  • Clark
  • Floyd

Thunderstorms producing heavy rain were indicated on radar by the NWS. Some areas have already seen anywhere between two to two and half inches of rain and more is expected to fall over the next few hours.

The NWS said flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Affected areas include Elizabethtown, Shepherdsville, Radcliffe, Vine Grove, Lebanon Junction, Louisville, Jeffersonville, New Albany, St. Matthews, Shively, Beechwood Village and West Beuchel.

All warnings are set to expire by noon on Aug. 14.

If you approach a flooded roadway, do not try to drive through it. Find an alternate route.
