Although it will be a fun event, it will bring a lot of traffic to the east side of Jefferson County. Louisville Tourism predicts about 200,000 people will travel to the golf club for the tournament.

Those attending the tournament, or even if you plan to commute on the east side of Louisville, need to be prepared for slow downs on some key interstates.

Complementary PGA Public Parking is at the Kentucky Exposition Center through Gates 6 as well as the Main Gate officials said. A shuttle will take spectators to and from the parking lots to the main spectator entrance at Valhalla Golf Club officials said.

The parking lot will be open throughout all of the tournament. There is no overnight parking available.

This means that commuters need to know that access to I-65 and I-264 and anywhere near the Expo Center, the Fairgrounds, and Ali Int’l Airport will likely be limited at this time. Uber, Lyft and Z-Trip drivers need to be aware of this and expect delays. Most of the Valhalla PGA Championship traffic will flow from I-65 to I-264 East. Then shuttles will access I-64 East from I-264 and access I-265 NB.

From there, shuttles will access Shelbyville Road to Valhalla Golf Club using I-265 NB. Expect delays and slow going spots, especially around Shelbyville Road stoplight traffic leading to Valhalla.

A good detour to follow is taking I-65 or I-71 to the Gene Snyder (or I-265) if you plan to avoid the PGA Championships traffic as a local Louisvillian.
