Churchill Downs offering free entry for Kentucky Derby, Oaks training sessions

Doors will be open starting Thursday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Churchill Downs is opening its doors free of charge for a limited time starting this week.

The track will be open daily from 7-10 a.m. starting Thursday and continuing through next Wednesday. Fans will be able to watch the nation's best 3-year-old Thoroughbreds train for their races in this year's Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.

Horses train on the main track daily from 5:15-10 a.m. There will be an exclusive training window for only Derby and Oaks horses from 7:30-7:45.

Derby horses will have yellow saddle towels and Oaks horses will have pink.

Guests can enter Churchill Downs through the Clubhouse Gate and park for free in the nearby Yellow Lot. Sections 115, 116 and 117 will be available for watching morning workouts.

A premium breakfast is available for purchase Sunday and Monday in Millionaires Row or the Stakes Room. Tickets can be purchased here.

The 150th runnings of the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby are set for Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4.
