LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The overlook at Iroquois is open for the "Total Eclipse of the Park" event on Monday, held in Summit Field as a partnership with the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.
"We're at about 98% totality here in Louisville," Katey Huffman, Metro Parks spokesperson, said. "You should still be able to see a pretty good sight."
That's if the weather clears up.
"We're hoping that people can make a day out of it. It's gonna be open from 1:00 o'clock to 4:00 o'clock. We're gonna have music and a food truck out here," Huffman said. "Bring a picnic if you like. Your blankets, your lawnchairs. We always just ask that you leave no trace in our parks."
You can also enjoy the eclipse from the Big Four Lawn at Waterfront Park. Their event runs from noon until four with music, food, drinks and, free eclipse glasses if you need those. But the fun doesn't stop at the Ohio River.
"We'll have Kona Ice and a teddy-bear-mobile where people can make a little teddy bear memorabilia to take home with them for the event," Kayla Tatgenhorst, Clarksville Parks spokesperson, said.
Her department partnered with Bolt and Tie apartments for the "Eclipse and Eats" event at the Common Green.
"We'll also have, of course, a kids zone and then a beer garden," she said.
While there's plenty to do, no matter which park you decide to visit, make sure you bring your own place to sit for a good time.
