LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The Louisville Metro Police Department is at the scene of a deadly crash on I-264W at mile marker 1.5, that is the area of River Park Drive.
MetroSafe said two people were killed.
The lanes of I-264W are blocked due to the crash. MetroSafe the eastbound lanes were closed to traffic as well.
LMPD's preliminary investigation found an F150 pickup struck the rear end of a Buick passenger car, and also struck the rear end of a Honda passenger vehicle which was pushed underneath a semi tractor. The semi was stopped for traffic.
LMPD said the Buick caught on fire. The people in that vehicle died at the scene.
The drivers of the F-150 and the driver of the Honda were taken to University of Louisville Hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to LMPD. A child, who was in the Honda, was sent to Kosair Children's Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
LMPD said at least speed is factor in this crash. They are continuing to investigate.
