KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sometimes, fire departments rescue cats stuck high in trees. On Thursday, the Knoxville Fire Department rescued a kitten stuck low in a storm drain.

The fire department said a crew of four people responded to a report about the trapped feline. One of the crew removed a grate covering the drain and stepped into the storm drain, pulling the kitten out as it meowed. According to a post on social media, the kitten was "in excellent condition" as of Thursday evening.

The kitten has a black coat and appears to be relatively young, according to images from KFD. The fire department said the actions of Q4-C helped make sure it stayed safe.
