Wanted ‘Botanical Bandit’ on the run as victims claim property

Victims of the bandit can recover the property beginning July 5 at 10 a.m.
A suspect police believe is responsible for the theft of plants in the Highlands neighborhood.

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - Officers say they have recovered many items that are suspected of being stolen during the recent yard thefts in the Highlands.

Thefts included items like plants, outdoor furniture, bird baths, and yard gnomes.

Victims can come to the 5th Division, 2301 Douglass Blvd., and view/recover the property beginning July 5 at 10 a.m. For more information, victims can call (502) 574-7636.

While no arrests have been made at this point, police do say they have a person of interest in this case. LMPD said they are looking for Barton Bishop and he is currently on the run. They said they believe he is in Tennessee.

LMPD said Bishop is responsible for about 50 thefts dating back to early June. According to police, a search warrant was conducted at Bishop's home and storage unit and led to the recovery of dozens of items.

Below are the dates and times for the viewing of property:

July 5: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

July 6: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

July 7: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

July 8: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

July 9-13: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
