'Stellar Snacks' holds first job fair in W. Louisville, as they aim to bring 350 local jobs to the area

"We are listening and hearing the concerns. People need jobs, accessibility, sustainability, and that's what is the start of Stellar Snacks."

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Pretzel manufacturing company Stellar Snacks held its first job fair Saturday at West Louisville's new school, Hudson Middle School.

The $137 million investment into West Louisville will bring 350 local jobs to the area over the next ten years.

District 6 Metro Councilman Phillip Baker said the investment is one the biggest the area has ever seen, saying the West Louisville community has often been ignored.

"We are listening and hearing the concerns. People need jobs, accessibility, sustainability, and that's what is the start of Stellar Snacks," Baker said.

The woman-owned, Nevada-based company is bringing an economic impact to the are that the neighborhoods have long strived for and deserve, Baker said.

Having Hudson Middle School host the event represents a redefined West Louisville, an area that is no longer ignored.

"This is the first West Louisville middle school in 90 years to be built in West Louisville. There is a rebirth of this neighborhood and with Stellar Snacks coming into the district, we wanted to make sure nothing better than a new school that's vibrant and ready to listen, lead, and serve," Baker said.

"We are about serving in the community and so this is an opportunity for those that are around our school community that now have an opportunity to get jobs – which we know is extremely important. We're thinking about our students and our families in our community at large," said Hudson Middle School Principal Dr. Jeronda Majors.

Stellar Snacks is now hiring for early positions: engineers, technicians, and pretzel operators.

"We are the type of neighbors and community partners where we're not just a business, we're a new family in town and we'd love to make connections that are really authentic and see how we can support your families, too," said Stellar Snacks Co-Founder Gina Galvin.

Galvin said the company's goal is to be a business that is apart of the community it serves.

“That’s something Stellar Snacks looks forward to doing, is staying connected to local community orgs, education facilities, and if there’s ways we can support and give back, that’s something we’ll do in the coming years of being a partner and a neighbor of this community,” Galvin said.

Stellar Snacks will host more job fairs in the upcoming months, and plans to start rolling out products in the fall of 2024.
