Last week, a fire destroyed 16 housing units, forcing the Boys and Girls Haven to move the children to tents inside its gym. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the CEO says its caused about 500-thousand dollars in damage and left the children with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.

"The response was immediate. In a day and a half, the gift cards, the cash, the new clothing, the things that we needed to replace the things immediately that they need was overwhelming by far,” Read Harris, CEO of Boys and Girls Haven, said.

Since 1948, Boys and Girls Haven has taken care of young people in our community.

Volare will have a collection box in the restaurant through Sunday, Dec. 9.
