LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For two nights, the top 40 bull riders in the world will go head-to-head against more than 100 of the top bovine athletes.

The Pro Bull Riding (PBR) World Championship 'Unleash the Beast' is headed to the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville from April 26-27.

Riders will be competing for points in the race to qualify for the 2024 PBR World Finals and be crowned the 2024 PBR World Champion.

"The most captivating 8 seconds on dirt will take over KFC Yum! Center for two-days of can’t-miss Western sporting action," Kacie Albert, a spokesperson for PBR, said. "The PBR event in Louisville will arguably be one of the most crucial events of the season for those riders competing in their quest to be crowned the 2024 PBR World Champion and earn the life-changing $1 million bonus."

Albert said Louisville has been known to be a city where "World Champion contenders emerge."

Last season, Dener Barbosa won the event en route to finishing a career-best No. 6 in the world, while in 2021 Kaique Pacheco won the event before finishing No. 2 in the world title race.

Albert said one highlight this season is John Crimber. After turning 18 in mid-August, Crimber made his PBR debut winning 10 events in two months across two countries. Now, he wants to be crowned the youngest World Champion in history.

The bull riding action for Cooper Tires Louisville PBR begins with round 1 at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, April 26, followed by round 2 and the championship round at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. All competing bull riders will get on one bull each in rounds 1-2.

Following round 2 Saturday evening, Albert said the riders’ individual two-round scores will be totaled with the Top 12 advancing to the championship round for one more out and a chance at the event title.
