Prank leads to high school evacuating, Oldham County first responders investigating

Emergency medical services personnel saw seven students who said they were feeling uncomfortable Oldham County Police (OCPD) said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fire departments and police in Oldham County were called to one of the high schools after the building was evacuated on Tuesday.

According to police, the Oldham County High School resource officer reported officials started noticing a "strong gas odor" which resulted in students and faculty evacuating the building.

Firefighters on sight determined it wasn't a gas leak, and found the source in and around a couple of trash cans and cleaned it up investigators said. Authorities later determined the liquid to be a product commonly used in pranks.

OCPD and school officials identified a teenager who had allegedly poured the liquid into the trash, causing this incident investigators said.

The matter is still under investigation, but more information may be released authorities said.
