Police said officers followed the car after it sped away from a street where they heard gunshots. The crash caused the house and car to catch fire.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two adults were arrested and are facing charges after an early-morning crash caused a house to catch fire Thursday, June 13.

Police said the crash started when officers heard gunshots on Cecil Ave. while patrolling the neighborhood. Officers followed a car they saw speeding away, chasing it until it crashed into a vacant home under renovations on the 200 block of Northwestern Parkway, in the Shawnee neighborhood.

Both the car and the home caught fire. The woman driving the car and a male passenger were transported to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries. Police said the people at the home where they believed shots were fired from are not injured.

The fire was quickly put out before it could spread any further.
