What you need to know about 'Operation White Flag' in Louisville

To locate the nearest shelter and to reserve a bed, residents can also call the Coordinated Shelter Access (CSA) line at (502) 637-2337.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Operation White Flag goes into effect when the temperature or wind chill is below 35 degrees. With that in mind, select shelters in Louisville are preparing to take in vulnerable populations. 

The participating Operation White Flag shelters include:

  • Wayside Christian Mission (accepts cats and dogs), 432 E. Jefferson St., 502/742-7019
  • Salvation Army Center for Hope (day shelter only), 911 S. Brook St., 502/671-4904

To locate the nearest shelter and to reserve a bed, residents also can call the Coordinated Shelter Access (CSA) line at (502) 637-2337. 

If the CSA line is closed (open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.), contact the shelter directly.

  • Center for Women and Families (Domestic violence and sexual assault survivors only), 927 S 2nd Street, 502/581-7200
  • Wayside Christian Mission, 432 East Jefferson Street, to reserve a bed call 502/637-2337, check-in is at 4 p.m.
  • Re:Center Ministries (Men only), 733 East Jefferson Street, to reserve a bed call 637-BEDS, check-in is at 7 p.m.
  • Salvation Army Center of Hope, 911 South Brook Street, to reserve a bed call 502/637-2337
    • Check-in time for women is 5 p.m.
    • Check-in time for men is 6 p.m.
    • Check-in time for young adults is 9 p.m.
  • Volunteers of America, 1321 South Preston Street, to reserve a bed, call 502/637-2337
  • The Healing Place, check-in time is 3:30 p.m., to reserve a bed, call 502/637-2337 
    • Men's shelter is 1020 West Market St.
    • Women's shelter is 1503 15th St.
