Oklahoma man dies in Nelson County car crash, police investigating

NELSON COUNTY, Ky. — An Oklahoma man is dead after a car crash in Nelson County Tuesday afternoon. 

Kentucky State Police (KSP) said officers responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the Bluegrass Parkway around 2 p.m. 

Police said the preliminary investigation reveals that Kevin Long, 58, of Norman, OK, was driving a 2023 BMW R1250 motorcycle eastbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when, for unknown reasons, he exited the shoulder of the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle.

Long was pronounced dead on the scene.

The road stayed open while troopers worked to investigate the crash. 

KSP was assisted at the scene by the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Office, Bardstown Police Department, Nelson Co. EMS and the Nelson Co. Coroner’s Office. 

The crash remains under investigation.
