Louisville's Metro Council elects new leadership for 2024

While the president and Majority Caucus chair will stay the same, but there was a change in Metro Council's Minority Caucus.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's Metro Council met for the first time in the new year, and that was to elect their leadership for 2024.

Councilmember Markus Winkler, who represents a large part of the east end, will once again serve as the president.

He is keeping the position he assumed last year when he took over for former-President David James.

Democrats re-elected Councilwoman Paula McCraney to serve as the Majority Caucus chair for 2024.

Meanwhile, the Republicans unanimously selected Councilman Kevin Kramer as the Minority Caucus chair.

Kramer took over for Councilman Anthony Piagentini, who was recently found guilty of ethics violations.

A charging committee has recommended that he be removed, but those hearings have not yet been scheduled.
