LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An elderly woman was killed in a deadly crash Saturday morning in Louisville's Buechel neighborhood.

At about 7:30 a.m., Louisville Metro police responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Buechel Bypass at Plaza Avenue, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a woman driving a car was traveling southbound on the Buechel Bypass when she tried to make a left-hand turn onto Plaza Avenue, turning into the path of a pickup truck that was traveling northbound on the bypass.

The impact of the crash caused the car to leave the roadway and continue down a small hillside until the car struck a tree. The woman driving the car, 78-year-old Carolyn M. Greaves, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup truck remained in the northbound lanes during the accident and the driver of the pickup truck stayed on scene. He was transported to UofL Hospital where officials say he is expected to survive.

Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the collision. LMPD's Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
